When I first moved here in 1999 I rented a room here in the middle of this bananna field about a 15 min walk up the Bananna Trail from school. I paid US$300/month.
Many houses in Dominica do not have central hot water. The alternative is a water heating shower head which you may be able to see. The problem is that you do not control the temperature. The heater is either off or on. But when used it's a fairly middle of the road shower temperature. Many places do have centrail hot water.
I loved having free access to banannas, passion fruit and star fruit just outside my door.
The PBH is like the dorms of Ross. It's truly nothing fancy but it's close and does the job. This is where I lived my later semesters at Ross. They have basic rooms (smaller and 220v power) or you can pay more for their superior rooms (larger, newer and 110v power).
This is Springfield of Glanvilla. Glanvilla is an area North of school. Heading North you have housing along the Lizard Trail (very close to school) then Glanvilla, then Picard (where the bank is) and finally Portsmouth (about 1 mile North of school).

NCB is the bank that has an ATM located on campus. The banking line moves very slowly so you will want an account here so you can just bank on campus. The ATM tends to run out of money, espically after mid-terms, so keep a little extra on hand so you don't have to travel into town when it happens.
